  We recently stayed at this hotel for the first time. We were most impressed with the hotel, it had recently been refurbished and the bedrooms were gorgeous. The staff are lovely and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food was delicious with lots of choice and it's nice to have the informal dining of the cellar bar if you fancy a more relaxed atmosphere and it is particularly suitable for children. The formal dining room has the most amazing views and a great menu. If you like walking this is the place to be, reception will even print off various walks for you depending on how much time you have. You can walk to the local pub, the Exeter Inn who also serve great food if you fancy something different one night. The hotel has something for everyone, including golf and leisure facilities which we all took advantage off. We will be back!

  Attended a wedding at Highbullen, everything was very good. Function rooms were beautiful, great grounds and surroundings, great service. Food was excellent. Would certainly go again.

  Really picturesque hotel and setting with lovely rooms and restaurant. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow. With the restaurant only about 40% full it took half an hour for our breakfast order to be taken it then took another 35mins before they brought our food out. When they did bring the food out it was completely wrong. We asked for a full English with no tomatoes and black pudding. The first food they brought was scrambled eggs on toast, then they brought out a full English with black pudding and no mushroom, then on the third attempt they got it right. Was such a shame for otherwise a great place. Also there were plenty of staff so that's not an excuse.

  The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings. The quality of service and food/drink was first class. Do expect to pay highly for this though. My only criticism was an uncomfortable bed which had a mattress long overdue to be replaced. I attended for a wedding and would thoroughly recommend the venue for this type of big social function.

  Having just spent a night at Highbullen I felt I had to write a review. From the moment we arrived to when we checked out the staff couldnt have been more helpful. We had our dog with us, and she had a ball running and walking through the fabulous grounds. As we forgot towels for her (she got rather muddy!) they happily gave us their pristine white ones, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was one of the Deerview rooms, v spacious, with fabulous views and the most comfortable big bed ever! we woke to a great dawn chorus, early but lovely. Our evening meal was very good, as was the morning breakfast, the service was v professional. The restaurants views are breathtaking, to be honest we couldnt find fault in any thing, I would highly recommend Highbullen for a stay short or long
